Coracle Fellowship: Baltimore

*The Coracle Fellowship Program in Baltimore for 2020-2022 is no longer receiving applications.  To inquire about the program, please contact the community minister for Baltimore: cmbaltimore@inthecoracle.org*

The Coracle Fellowship in Baltimore leads you through a 20-month process of discovery and formation in community with others longing for More in their relationship with God and in their redemptive engagement in the brokenness that surrounds us all.  It is a program of “Spiritual Formation for Kingdom Action.”  The world needs more people who are alive and strong in God for the sake of the world. That is why we offer this program, so that you might live in freedom as God’s joyful and redemptive presence wherever he leads you.

By the end of your Fellowship experience, here are our hopes for you:

that you would know God’s love more truly – understand Jesus more clearly – connect with God more easily – embrace your uniqueness more deeply – understand your vocations more confidently – live more hopefully – hear God’s voice more readily – participate in God’s redemptive work more eagerly – trust God more radically – live more fully with great joy.

The Coracle Fellowship in Baltimore is woven around a framework of twelve group retreats, most of which will take place at the Bon Secours Retreat Center, less than 20 miles west of downtown Baltimore.  Given the public health uncertainties surrounding the COVID-19 pandemic, we will also be offering a fully-virtual version of the Fellowship program to any for whom that would be a better option.  Either version of the program also includes other key elements experienced individually and in group settings in your locale.  These elements include:

recommended readings – exposure to a variety of spiritual disciplines – written reflections – several local Coracle Fellowship dinners – a personal retreat – the opportunity to participate in other Coracle offerings over the course of the year – and the opportunity to synthesize what you have learned in a final reflection project.

All the while, we encourage you to continue to participate regularly in your home church.

On top of individualized attention to your spiritual journey and growth, we will provide a Fellowship reading list, a robust notebook of retreat resources, a specialized prayer book, and a journal for your use throughout the program.

Please see our FAQ’s Page for more information on our coronavirus contingency plans and other questions you might have.  If your question is not answered in that document, please email info@inthecoracle.org, and we will be happy to talk with you!

The Coracle Fellowship’s Baltimore faculty is primarily made up of our staff including Rev. Bill Haley, Dr. Scott Buresh, Wade Ballou, Karla Petty, some of our spiritual directors, and others.

In-Person:  The suggested donation for the full program (including retreats, materials, and personal retreat) is $2,450, which can easily be broken into donations of $125 per month.  This will remain the suggested donation even if public health precautions prompt us to switch to a virtual format for some retreats.  You are able to pay at whatever pace is best for you, and we never want cost to keep you from experiencing this transformative program (see our FAQ’s Page for more information on program costs and payment plans).  The cost of books is not included in this amount, nor are additional donations for sessions with a spiritual director, which would be offered separately and directly to your spiritual director.

Fully-Virtual: In addition to the in-person Fellowship, we will also be launching a fully-virtual form of the program.  All of the in-person retreats will be live-streamed over Zoom to any participants who do not feel comfortable attending the retreats or who live out of the area.  This version of the Fellowship program has a suggested donation of $1,250 or $63 per month.  You may indicate in your application the version of the Coracle Fellowship in Baltimore upon which you hope to embark!

We are glad and able to offer some scholarship help for the Coracle Fellowship experience.  Particularly, Coracle is excited about and committed to the leadership and contribution of people of color in spiritual formation, therefore we have scholarships available if that will enable participation. We want whoever God is drawing to this to be able to participate in it!
