Community

Vision

We were never meant to do this alone.

The learning, growing, trying, falling down, getting back up, rejoicing, grieving, letting go, embracing… this process of becoming who we were made to be–“little Christs”– was never intended to be an individual journey.  When Jesus called the twelve disciples to follow him, it was an invitation to follow and know him together, giving us a beautiful picture of what it means to grow within a community.  The Scriptures remind us repeatedly that we are all irreplaceable parts of one body, that we belong to each other and are meant to care for each other.

The Coracle Community – wherever it gathers – is a space for us to regularly and intentionally be in each other’s presence and in the presence of God.  In multiple settings and avenues, we encourage each other’s holistic spiritual growth, paying attention to and cultivating what God is doing in us and what God seeks to do through us for the sake of the world.  Whether you’ve been part of the Coracle family for a long time or you’re just discovering us, we would love to have you join us!

Northern Virginia and DC

Community in Northern Virginia and DC is anchored by our monthly Conversations in Community which take place on the second Wednesday of every month, from 6:30-8:45 PM at our Ministry Center in Arlington, VA.

Additional opportunities for spiritual formation include:

  • Retreats offered in Northern Virginia
  • Monthly Online Seminars on topics aimed at deepening your prayer life, equipping you for your journey with God, and contemporary issues.
  • Every-so-often outings in the area with opportunities for discussion: movies, plays, concerts, and more

Members of the Coracle Community are also members of churches across Northern Virginia.  Through the gatherings noted above and additional opportunities, we seek to connect local churches to one another, building and strengthening relationships that will enable greater impact for God’s kingdom in our neighborhoods.

Shenandoah Valley

Coracle is actively exploring ways to join with God’s movement in the Shenandoah through the cultivation of both Spiritual Formation and Kingdom Action in the ValleyWe are doing this by exploring church partnerships and actively praying and discerning where it is that the gifts of God’s people in the valley might meet the needs of its community members. This has manifested in a number of ways, including:

Corhaven – our retreat center in the Valley, hosting individual and group retreats for spiritual restoration and renewal.

SLAQ – a ministry under the leadership of Ken Wettig that offers youth from diverse backgrounds a chance to discover the sacredness of life and the gift of a “good” creation through real-life adventure, service & wisdom.

Online

The core offering of the Coracle Community Online is The Deeper Journey. The Deeper Journey meets on the third Wednesday of every month at 7 p.m. (ET) via Zoom.  During this time, we come together to 1) go deeper into Christ, 2) go deeper together, 3) enable each other’s vocations, and 4) move out for the Kingdom.  You can read more about the “why” of our gatherings and the liturgy that shapes our time together here. Wherever you are, we hope you will join us!

Additionally, Coracle offers a number of online spaces for gathering for contemplation, prayer, and discussion, including:
