In this “Space for God” devotional, Susan Marks (Coracle Spiritual Director) introduces and guides us through an experience of “Ignatian Gospel Reading.” Developed by St. Ignatius of Loyola in the 16th century, this is a way of prayerfully encountering Bible stories such that all our faculties are drawn into an encounter with God through Observation, Reflection, Listening, and Resolution. In this session, Susan focuses our attention on the story of blind Bartimaeus, told in Mark 10:46-52.
During the reflection, Susan mentions several resources to help you go deeper into this classic spiritual practice:
- Amy Boucher Pye’s Soundings Seminar on “Prayer & The Imagination“
- “First We Were Loved” from Dove House Ministries
- A helpful resource to learn more about Ignatian Spirituality
- A Printable Worksheet you can use to incorporate Ignatian Gospel Contemplation into your devotional life
