An Interview with 2021 Coracle Fellow Sarah Hoyt

What initially drew you towards the Coracle Fellowship Program?

A dear friend who had been a Fellow the previous year recommended I look into this program. I’m so glad I did! And I remain grateful to my friend!

What is one retreat that has particularly resonated with you? Why?

It’s difficult to choose just one retreat. The most recent retreat on the Eucharist was most powerful. In the midst of the COVID-19 pandemic, it has been a treat to be able to finally meet in person and get to know some of the Coracle Fellows.

Any other highlights you’d care to share?

There have been many highlights including spiritual formation in various forms, Reverend Bill Haley’s teaching and Danny Nasry’s gracious leadership, fellowship with the other Coracle Fellows, sharing our stories, spiritual direction, breaking bread together, digesting the reading through discussion, quiet time, a short reflecting paper and prayer. I’m very grateful for this spiritual formation program.

What have you sensed God inviting you into through this program?

Each retreat has been an invitation to explore and go deeper in my walk with the Triune God and at times wrestling with issues and at other times resting. As I seek to know God more deeply, I have learned more about abiding in the lavish love of the Lord Jesus, being more receptive to the Holy Spirit and to allowing myself to be known.

Who do you think would be a good candidate for the Coracle Fellowship Program? (Someone who is…)

I think anyone who is curious about spiritual formation and would like to intentionally explore their Christian faith in community with others. The invitation is to come… “taste and see that the Lord is good”… (Psalm 34:8)
