For the World

COVID, Nepal, and the Church

As COVID-19 continues to menace countries across the globe, we remember our ministry partners working to build the church in Nepal.  The Nepalese economy (which relies heavily on tourism and remittances) and healthcare system (with approx. 1,000 intensive care beds for a population of 30 million) have been dealt a heavy blow by the virus, as you can read about in this recent New York Times article.

This, of course, affects the lives and livelihoods of fellow Christians throughout the country, as you can see from this recent pastoral update from one of our ministry partners on the ground.  He also points out the added tragedies of serious natural disasters that struck this summer.  Burdens like these are difficult to bear, and our prayers go out to these dear brothers and sisters.

As he invites us at the end of his update, may we pray for:

1. Healing for those afflicted with the coronavirus and those who must care for them
2. That the Lord would speed the production and global delivery of an effective vaccine
3. Relief for those in Nepal without work or means
4. Robust cooperation with ministry partners
5. New Church buildings
6. Vulnerable orphans and slum children
7. The Bible College in Nepal and expanded access to training for church leaders
8. Financial support to Pastors and Evangelists**
9. The effective, fervent prayer of Christians across the world
