For the Lord gives wisdom; from his mouth come knowledge and understanding. ~ Proverbs 2:6
Time and again, the bible instructs us to seek wisdom. In Proverbs 8, wisdom is personified as a woman who calls out to the “children of man”. For many of us, seeking wisdom takes the form of listening to people God has placed in our lives, older, younger… doesn’t matter, really. When is the last time you got a chance to sit down with someone and talk about what life has taught you? It is rare that we get to do this, though it is so often beneficial for both sides of the table.
Virginia Watson is not a pastor, nor has she gone to seminary. But at age 94, but she has seen a lot of life. She has walked closely with the Lord and given her life to Him without reservation, and she has learned a lot along the way. Over time, she has developed a list of 12 practices she considers indispensable in her walk with the Lord. She has been asked time and again to share this list with people of all ages and stages of life, and she has generously offered to share it with Coracle for a day, on February 10th at Corhaven for a retreat we’re calling Wisdom at 94: An Intergenerational Conversation. The day will be more about discussion and exchange. Virginia has a story to accompany each of her 12 lessons and we want to have plenty of interactive time to engage around her offering.
Virginia will tell you that she doesn’t know why people keep asking her to share this list of lessons. But it has blessed many, far and wide. Coracle wants to provide the opportunity for even more to enjoy the sweetness of a fireside chat on a winter’s day with this saintly storyteller, sharing in community with fellow journeyers of all ages. This day is for people who are seeking practical methods for deepening their faith, real-life application of spiritual truths, intergenerational exchange, and walking in truth with others. We are very grateful to Virginia for partnering with us, and we hope you will join us for great stories, Lunch by Tara, and a day of communally heeding the call of wisdom when she says “whoever finds me, finds life.” (Proverbs 8:35).
