Friends and fellow-pilgrims, we’ve heard your cries! And so, it seems, has God. He’s been providing wonderfully already, and now we need your help.
If you’ve been out to Corhaven, you know the need. It’s the most consistent feedback we’ve received from retreatants here for years, and is achingly obvious. To this point, people coming out here on personal retreats or group retreats have had to use the bathroom and shower in our home, which has been fine with us but often uncomfortable or awkward for guests, especially when there are 30 of them at one time taking a break during a retreat! Or having to traverse in rain, or snow, or the dark.
It’s taken a while to get a bead on the solution, but thanks be to God now we do, and it’s not just a bathroom! Working with local contractor, we’re moving forward on a more spacious addition to the Woodshop that will include a full bathroom, another half bathroom, kitchen facilities, some added seating space for retreats, an outdoor deck, a stone walkway up to the Cottage, a new septic system, and clean water drawn from the house. (Click on the images above to expand the drawings)
This will not only make the Woodshop especially much more suitable and comfortable for group and individual retreats, but will enable various sorts of retreatants (individuals, families, small groups, staff groups, etc) to be completely self-sufficient when that is desired, significantly opening up the availability for Corhaven for much more use. We know that this development, like others in the past, will significantly increase the ministry here, and we also expect that it’ll be even more than we can anticipate! That’s the way God’s done it every time we’ve undertaken a major project out here. In fact, I’m still not used to how powerfully God seems to be using this place for so many. Check out some of the recent answers we’ve gotten to the simple question, “How did you meet God at Corhaven?” This project will enable much more of this to happen for many.
So will you help us finish “The Bathroom and more” project? There are three ways especially you can do this.
- Please pray with us that God will provide for this project, be in the details and construction process, and bring it to swift completion! We’re hoping to have it fully ready for the “Praying For Your ‘New’ Year” retreat on September 6 (register for that one, it’ll hopefully be a different experience for retreatants!)
- And we would greatly appreciate your financial support! Because of some (mostly memorial) donations already made, we need just $40,000 more to fully fund this project. Your donations are tax deductible, and will enable us to do this! You can help by donating online here and designating your gift “Building Fund”, or by mailing a check to Coracle with “Building Fund” in the memo line to 2883 Quicksburg Road, Quicksburg VA, 22847
- If you have any ideas on foundations or other donors we might approach about this project, or the larger ministry of Coracle, please contact me via email here, or if you have any other questions.
Thank you, dear friends, for helping so much. I look forward to giving you updates as we go along!
