This song was written by Bono in late 1983 as he was pondering both the non-violent and the violent sides of the US Civil Rights movement. A tribute to Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr., this particular version seems the most appropriate to share today. The words speak of two men, Jesus and Martin Luther King, Jr., both came in the name of Love.
This video is from the 2009 Presidential Inauguration concert “We Are One” given on the steps of the Lincoln Memorial, where Dr. King gave his famous I Have a Dream speech in 1963. We remember him today through these words and music.
(And you even get a bonus song! “City of Blinding Lights” is also included in the video.)
