Contemplative Life, Coracle News

Looking Back at 2018, Looking Forward to 2019

Well, friends, it’s been another remarkable year of watching God work through Coracle. What really fires me up is comments like these from folks we’ve walked with in the last year, just a sample of many…

My life, praise the Lord, will never be the same. “

“I can truly say that I have been “spiritually formed”. I want to be a little Jesus walking around this earth because He is worth it, and that is what He asks of us…”

“I marvel at how I am being transformed by the renewing of my mind, body and soul.”

“Every time I think back to the time we spent in Corhaven, I am so profoundly grateful and blessed by it. It did something deep in me…and it’s still happening. “

“Something deep, profound is happening to me…”’

These comments reflect what Coracle is all about. We are a spiritual formation ministry, people being formed for the sake of the world. By God’s grace and the Holy Spirit, we enable men and women to become more like Jesus and become the presence of Jesus to bring the Kingdom of God to the brokenness of the world, however we encounter it in our lives.

This past year this ‘Spiritual Formation for Kingdom Action’ has happened in so many ways for so many people. Next week we’ll release our annual report, and you’ll see that 2018 for us was a year of growth in every way. We’ll send a link out, but if you’d like a hard copy, send us your snail mail address and we’ll get it to you.

2019 is coming, and we really need your help at this year’s end to keep moving forward as we feel God is leading us.  On top of doing all that we always do, we’ll add at least one more full-time staff member and will find a regular meeting and office space in Northern Virginia. We’ve been cultivating a Coracle Community for some time now, and expect in 2019 for that to really deepen and become available, and making Coracle generally more accessible for people. We’ll launch our new website in January, enhance our communications throughout the year, and deepen our existing partnerships with churches and other organizations, hopefully adding a couple more. And we hope  in 2019 to prayerfully, attentively, and discerningly develop a strategic plan for the next 3-5 years. Then on September 21, we’ll celebrate our 10th anniversary at Corhaven, and hope you’ll join us!

Would you help us? Would you pray for us? Would you join us? Would you financially support this work? We’re seeking to raise $75,000 before year’s end to enable this to happen, and your donation – small or large, once or monthly – will really help. Our budget is increasing in the coming year, and it’d be so encouraging to have that goal met before the year begins!

Thank you, dear friends and fellow-pilgrims, for your involvement and support thus far. God is using it to touch, and really form, the lives of many. This insight from Lesslie Newbigin has been ringing in my heart since I first came across it several months ago, “The deepest motive for mission is simply the desire to be with Jesus where he is, on the frontier between the reign of God and the usurped dominion of the devil.”

That’s what we’re about. That’s what you make possible. That’s what’s happening. Thank you.

On the Journey,
