A Light to the World is the Missio Dei

This post was written by Gabriel Dodd

During my first semester studying at Eastern Mennonite Seminary, I have enjoyed a class called Missio Dei in Cultural Context.  I have come to an understanding that if ten people were in a room, and we asked them what the Mission of God is, there would be 10 different answers.  Some might say, “Forgiveness.”  Another person may say, “Salvation.”  And another might say, “Judgement.”  I have decided that an inclusive term to sum up the Mission of God would be Shalom.  Shalom includes all these things and more.  One of the easiest ways to describe Shalom is to tell stories.  The following is my term paper, some stories, and some practical ways to carry out my version of the Missio Dei.  I hope you enjoy my first Seminary term paper.

Missio Dei Shalom
