Across the four seasons, at countless points throughout each year, I am reminded of what a special place God has given us in Corhaven, a literal “shelter for the heart” in the Shenandoah Valley, that provides a unique place for people to meet with God and to be met by God in amazing ways again and again.
In 2015, more than 500 people participated in group retreats and events here. In all, we offered 30 group retreats, 420 overnight stays, and 75 day retreats and each time the most exciting and encouraging part was not the number of people, but the beautiful ways God consistently met those who came. To give you a sense of how people are blessed by Corhaven when they come I’ve included some testimonials here, and as one retreatant reflects:
I felt pressure on the way here to “make this time count.” But from the moment I got here, I sensed Him encouraging me to stop striving. So I did…I was with Him. No performing or producing — Just with Him. I experienced His presence in some exciting, tender ways. I can’t imagine a more restful experience than I had.
In 2016 and the years to come, we expect to serve even more people in and through the ministry of Corhaven but we need your help to make that possible. We are asking those who know – and perhaps have been blessed by – Corhaven in some way to prayerfully consider becoming a Hospitality Partner by giving a regular monthly gift of $25, $50, or $100. To give you a better sense of just how significant this kind of gift could be, consider that your gift of $50 a month enables us to offer a full week of ministry at Corhaven, serving individuals who come for personal retreats as well as large groups who come to meet God together and other ministries too. You can find a Corhaven Hospitality Partner Donor Card that will enable you to do that, which you can print out and send back to us. Or, you can simply go to our support page and set it all up online.
These regular monthly gifts allow us to strengthen the core offerings that have always been a part of Corhaven, but they also enable us to also grow and extend other areas of our broader Coracle ministry as well. We would be so grateful for your support.
Finally, regardless of whether or not this invitation to give is right for you at this time, would you consider committing to pray for Corhaven regularly? My prayer most often is “God, lead people out here that you want to meet here.” And then God does it, leading them and then meeting them. I would love if you would join me in that simple prayer.
On the journey!
